The Leibniz Institute for Psychology Information (Leibniz-Zentrum für Psychologische Information und Dokumentation, ZPID) began its work in 1972
under the director Prof. Dr. Reinert, with the financial support of the Max Planck Society.
ZPID ran as a project at the University of Trier until 1987. After a positive evaluation by the German Science and Humanities Council
(Wissenschaftsrat) in 1985, it was granted the status of a Central Scientific Institute at the University of Trier.
ZPID is now financed as one of the Blue List Science Association's institutes, the forerunner of the Leibniz Association (Wissenschaftsgemeinschaft
Gottfriend Wilhelm Leibniz, WGL). ZPID has been a member of the Leibniz Association since 1997.
