The ACM SIGMOD Anthology - a computer science retrodigitization project

Michael Ley

Universität Trier - ley@uni-trier.de

Computer science is a young area, nevertheless a large amont of ``historical'' publications are not available in electronic form. The Special Interest Group on Management Data (SIGMOD), part of ACM, is developing a digital library on database system research. Until today 19 CDROMs with more than 12000 articles (>120000 pages) have been published, more CDROMs and a DVD-ROM edition are in preparation. The scanned PDF full texts are complemented by an comprehensive Web-based bibliography on data base systems research and many adjacent areas of computer science.

The talk and demonstration of the ACM SIGMOD Anthology and the DBLP Bibliography will

  • focus on the advantages of the hybrid style (Web/CDROM) of the publication,
  • show several browsing and search facilities,
  • discuss an extensive citation linking experiment for the database system area, and
  • report on experiences from the implementation and maintainance of the digital libray.
