Information portals contain a more or less static part, with linking to specific databases and providers, besides a highly dynamic part, of interactive services like discussion lists etc. A third kind of services becomes more and more obvious: information services basing on distributed information sources. Theses kind of services will become a central part of future portal solutions.

Starting with the (http://www.eps.org/PhysNet) PhysNet portal for Physics, different solutions of distributed services will be shown. PhysNet itself combines distributed information from the Physics Institutional Web-servers on documents (grey literature), administrational information, conferences, jobs etc. But PhysNet also is a distributed service. The way from a local service to a global network with distributed players will be shown. Also a first view will be given on a Germany Research project on distributed search and on bringing XML-query and OAi with Harvest-based services together.

Prototypes on using Metadata for non-textual resources will be shown. They allow to set up high quality networking on distributed sources.

The IuK 2001 is organized by the German Psychological Association (DGPs) and the Institute for Psychology Information (ZPID).
